Restoring the pre-Covid shine to Moroccan tourism is the priority of actors and professionals in the sector. Among the measures proposed and presented by Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui are holiday vouchers.
Holiday vouchers represent a mechanism offered by employers to support domestic tourism. Currently, the decree linked to this mechanism is being validated, indicated the Minister of Tourism, stressing that her department is in the process of setting up internal and external analyzes and research with a view to better understanding the parameters of the recovery. of tourist activity and the launch of promotional campaigns.
As for air transport, until March 2021, a drop of 70.16% was recorded in the activity of all national airports compared to 2020 and will continue until 2023. The sector should return to the 2019 level from 2024. At Royal Air Maroc, most of the planes remained inactive. A trend which could continue in the years to come at more than 30%, added the minister, stressing that this year, 40% of air traffic activity could be used.
Furthermore, to save jobs in tourism, given the serious consequences caused by the health crisis on the sector, including the 78% drop in visitors, Alaoui indicated that thanks to the contractual program for support and the revival of the tourism sector 2020-2022, a structural change has been observed in the sector. And to help classified tourist establishments, travel agencies, tourist restaurants, tourist guides and others, a payment of 2000 DH as lump sum compensation was granted to employees of tourist companies declared to the CNSS. In total, 5,518 tourism companies have, until the end of April 2021, submitted their declarations to the CNSS so that their employees can benefit from this support.
Currently, the ministry is putting in place measures that could provide free training to actors in several sectors in order to strengthen their capacities, the minister concluded.
